Belkyra™

BELKYRA™ is Health Canada approved synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance found in our own bodies. When injected into the body, it destroys fat cells, which are then naturally absorbed into the body. It can significantly reduce submental (under the chin) fat, as well as redefine the jawline.

BELKYRA™ is injected into the submental fat (under chin) and it causes the fat cell to breakdown. The newly liberated contents of the fat cell are safely delivered to the liver, and eventually excreted via the kidneys. Once destroyed, these particular cells will not store or accumulate fat again.

BELKYRA™ is currently indicated for:

• Double Chin
  Who is a good candidate for BELKYRA™?
• You are 18 years old or older.
• In overall good health.
• Not pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you have mild, moderate to severe submental fullness (double chin) and don’t want to get surgery.
• Those who have a current or previous history of dysphagia (difficulty swallowing).

What to expect during treatment:

The treatment itself, will take approximately 30 minutes. After your consultation, our cosmetic specialist at Vitality Skin Bar will landmark the treatment area with an injection grid. During the multiple injections, you may experience mild discomfort, however we will ice your skin with a cool roller for more comfort.

What is the downtime or possible side effects?

The most common side effects are redness, swelling, bruising, localized pain, and numbness. Most side effects were generally mild to moderate and decreased with subsequent sessions. Most clients experience these symptoms for a few days, and some may experience longer. The healing takes place over 2 weeks, so we generally suggest you consider your social schedule before treatment day.

How many BELKYRA™ treatments may I require to treat my double chin?

Many patients treated with BELKYRA™ experience visible results under their chin/ profile within 2 to 4 sessions. Some people may require up to 6 sessions in order to achieve their desired results. These treatments are usually 6-8 weeks apart.

How long will the results last?

The results are lasting, with consideration to stable weight management.
