How Does miraDry Work?

miraDry is a simple treatment that can be completed in as little as one hour.

The miraDry system uses energy that targets and destroys the sweat and odor glands in your underarm. Once those glands are destroyed they do not grow back—so once they are gone, they are gone for good.

Here is what is happening below your skin

After your underarm has been numbed and is ready to be treated, the clinician will place the handpiece directly on your skin, lining up with the temporary treatment template applied to your underarm.

Next, the hand piece is activated. You will feel a slight suction as your skin and glands are brought closer to the surface for maximum results.

Finally, miraWave energy is delivered and the sweat and odor glands are destroyed. All the while, soothing cooling is applied to protect your skin.

Yes, you do! But, only about 2% of your sweat glands are in your underarm area. Even with the destruction of these glands, you still have more than enough. And, no need to worry, you will not sweat more in other areas after miraDry.

miraDry results are immediate and once your sweat and odour glands are eliminated, they are gone permanently. miraDry is clinically proven to have an average of 82% sweat reduction and 89% odour reduction. For reference, deodorant offers approximately a 20% reduction.

Most patients require only 1 treatment though a second treatment can be performed if additional results are desired.

Most patients describe the treatment as painless. As the numbing medication wears off, you are likely to experience some soreness and/or swelling in your underarm area. This will improve within 48 hours and resolve within a few weeks. We recommend icing the area for the first 48 hours. You should not need to miss any work after the miraDry procedure.
